GODFATHERISM KILLS

What the word “Godfatherism” entails is not just sponsoring someone to get to the mantle of leadership through guile and other juggling means, it is a corruption of the highest order. By definition, Godfatherism is a political corruption in which an influential mafia leader assists another person in the climb to [a] leadership role[s] through intrigue, cunny and evil machination at the expense of the major determiners of the role[s]. Since time immemorial, there is no society in which godfatherism thrives that experienced meaningful development in any walk of life, this is evident in a lot of countries in the third world and some notable states in Nigeria. The major havoc wreaked by this perilous act is denies people the right to elect the candidates of their collective choice because of an incurable predilection to all-time relevance, attention and power. As a result, “dummies” who have no idea of what good governance and quality leadership is are elected into leadership roles and those with germane leadership charisma are left out, subsequently killing off talents and almost anything good bound to happen to a particular society.
No legislation or other moves from the top will ever stop godfatherism in our societies especially in the grassroots. The 2015 general election in Nigeria showed that the people are getting wiser as a lot of those who believe some people would not get to leadership roles without their anointing actually lost in their own towns/cities, wards, and even polling units. In Africa, Godfatherism is evidently dwindling as those who have held to power for long are finally being pushed out in all the cardinal points of the continent; same is happening generally in the third world. Do not consult them for help, look to God and the main electorates for help in achieving your political aim, if you do otherwise, you are an agent of godfatherism. Do not do it, it kills!
In conclusion, remember this, everybody’s business is strictly nobody’s business. Do not meddle in the affairs of other people, leave them alone to decide who leads them.
